1. October 12, 2026, referred to by districts as either Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples’ Day, is a school holiday for just over half of K–12 students nationwide. The share varies widely by state:

2. Spring Break timing varies widely across school districts, most of which have set their calendars for 2026-2027. The chart below shows a pronounced shift toward earlier breaks in 2027. The share of districts off during the week of March 22 rises from 10% to 24%, while the share off during the week of April 5 falls from 20% to 9%.
